about

We love Dougie Donnelly and so do the listeners to our podcast. This is our tribute to the great man. Although we know he's gone on to great success covering golf and other sports all over the world we still want to see him back where he belongs on the BBC.

lyrics

There are no more heroes anymore
The teles only full of bores
Spouting mince without an ounce of charm or grace
But long ago there was a man
With hair like golden sand
Who’d launched a million games of fitba with his face

So bring back Dougie Donnelly on the Cooncil tele
He’s stupendous. He’s tremendous. He’s the best
Gabby Logan, Sonja McCloughlin
You really cannot knock them
But Dougie’s so much better than the rest

From golf to indoor bowls
There’s nothing Dougie doesn’t know
He’s covered rugby, sailing, boxing and the like
We miss his wink, his repartee
We miss our Dougie Donnelly
And we’re pleased he didn’t go weird like David Icke

So bring back Dougie Donnelly on the Cooncil tele
His cancellation really was a farce
Dan Walker, Jake Ball
They don’t have it at all
And you can stick your Inverdale up yer 1, 2, 3, 4

Bring back Dougie Donnelly on the Cooncil tele
He’s stupendous. He’s tremendous. He’s the best
Gabby Logan, Sonja McCloughlin
You really cannot knock them
But Dougie’s so much better than the rest

So bring back Dougie Donnelly on the Cooncil tele
His cancellation really was a farce
Dan Walker, Jake Ball
They don’t have it at all
And you can stick your Inverdale up yer arse
